Keyboard shortcuts

Press the question mark key any time to open the keyboard shortcuts cheat sheet, which lists navigation, action, and popup keys. The Feature guide tab in the same window lets you browse help for every feature.

Overview

Press ? to open the cheat sheet, a window titled Help with two tabs. Keyboard shortcuts lists the keys on this page, and Feature guide lists Lex Cloak's features, each with a short description and a link to its guide. Press ? or Esc to close it. The ? button at the top of the sidebar opens it too.

Keys with are written for a Mac. On Windows, press Ctrl instead. Shortcuts do nothing while you are typing in a box, so the letters you type go into the box and not to the page.

To jump straight to a page number, use the page dropdown in the toolbar, described in Page tools.

Zoom

The zoom controls float at the bottom right of the document. zooms out, + zooms in, the percentage between them shows the current zoom, and Fit sizes the page to the width of the window. Each document opens sized to the width of the window.

You can also hold and scroll over the page. Zoom out far enough and the document becomes a grid of small pages, the bird's-eye view. Zoom back in to return to the pages.

Work on the page

KeysWhat they do
RRedact the whole page. Press it again to turn that off.
XLeave the page out of the saved file. Press it again to put the page back.
DTurn draw mode on or off.
Shift and dragDraw a box to redact, without turning on draw mode.
PSwitch to Preview to see the black boxes as the saved file will show them, and back.

Keys the cheat sheet does not list

KeysWhat they do
FRotate the page a quarter turn to the right.
Delete or BackspaceDelete a box you drew, after you click it to select it.

Undo

Press and Z, or click the Undo button in the toolbar, to reverse your last change. Undo covers turning a red box off or back on, a box you drew, moved or resized, and a page you removed, redacted in full or rotated. Press it again to keep stepping back through your changes.

There is no redo, so if you go one step too far, make that change again. With several documents open, Undo switches to the document the change was made in.

Categories and lists

In popups

Clicking a red box, or selecting text on the page, opens a small popup of choices, such as Only this instance or Every instance in this document.

1, 2 or 3Choose the first, second or third button in the popup.
EscClose the popup without choosing.

Esc to close or cancel

Press Esc to close a popup, the Settings window or the cheat sheet, and to leave draw mode. If you have clicked a box you drew to select it, Esc lets go of it.
