Lex Cloak

Always Redact and Never Redact lists

Add a term to Always Redact and Lex Cloak flags and redacts it in every document. Type a term and press Enter to add it, and use Edit to remove terms or clear the list. The list lives on this device and survives a reset.

Overview

Two device-local lists in the sidebar carry your standing decisions across every document: the Always Redact list always flags certain terms, and the Never Redact allowlist always leaves certain terms alone. They are useful for a recurring client name, a court, an agency, or any string you make the same decision about every time.

Adding and managing terms

Always Redact list

Add a term to the Always Redact box and Lex Cloak flags and redacts it in every document. Type a term and press Enter to add it. Click Edit to remove individual terms or clear the whole list, and click Done when you are finished editing.

Never Redact list (allowlist)

Add a term to the Never Redact list and Lex Cloak leaves it alone even when the scan would flag it, which is useful for public names like a court or an agency. The same Enter to add, plus Edit / Done, applies here too.

Precedence and persistence

Always beats Never

If the same term appears on both lists, the Always Redact list wins and the term is redacted. The two are not symmetrical, on purpose: Always is the safer default for ambiguous cases.

Where the lists live

Both lists are stored on this device only. They are not uploaded anywhere, and they survive a Reset defaults pass, because Reset defaults touches settings rather than your saved choices about specific terms. Moving to a new computer means deactivating the license on the old one, activating on the new, and re-adding the terms (export and import is a future addition).
