Add your own redactions
Highlight text with your mouse, then choose from the popup whether to redact it on this page, across the whole document, or always across every document. This is the fastest way to cover something the scan did not flag.
Overview
Auto-detection is a head start, not a guarantee. Three tools let you cover anything Lex Cloak did not flag, in the moment, without leaving the page.
How to add a redaction
Select text and redact it
Highlight text in the document with your mouse, then pick a scope from the popup: this page, the whole document, or always across every document. Always-scope selections join your Always Redact list, so the same term keeps getting redacted in every document you open afterward.
Draw a redaction over anything
Hold Shift and drag to draw a redaction box over anything the scan cannot read, such as a face, a stamp, or a signature. Press D to stay in draw mode without holding Shift, and press Esc to leave it. Drawn boxes show up in the match list like any other redaction.
Redact a whole page
Press R or click the floating Redact page button to redact everything on the current page at once. Press it again to undo the page redaction. This is useful for low-quality scans where reviewing per-match is slower than covering the page and moving on.
For signatures and handwriting
Signatures and handwriting are not detected automatically. The dedicated signatures and handwriting page covers the Signatures toolbar button and the deliberate detect-not-auto-redact policy.
