Lex Cloak

Billing and subscription

Past due means a subscription payment did not go through, usually an expired or declined card. While it is past due, redacting and exporting are paused, though scanning and review still work. To fix it, open the billing management link from your purchase or receipt email, update your payment method with Paddle, and Lex Cloak unblocks once the payment clears.

Billing in brief

Lex Cloak is $9 a month or $90 a year. One plan, every feature. Billing is handled by Paddle, the payment processor, and Paddle sends the receipt with the management link you use to update payment details or cancel.

Your license is keyed to the email you bought with and works on both macOS and Windows. See activate your license for how the email-first activation flow works.

Past due: what it means and how to fix it

Past due means a subscription payment did not go through. Usually that is an expired card, a declined card, or a changed billing address that has not been updated with Paddle yet. While the subscription is past due, Lex Cloak pauses redacting and exporting on your machines, so the saved file you would otherwise produce does not ship under a lapsed license. Scanning, review, and detection still work, so you can keep preparing the document while you sort out the payment.

To fix it:

  1. Open the most recent receipt or purchase email Paddle sent you. The management link is in that email.
  2. Click the management link and update your payment method, or replace the card on file with a new one.
  3. Paddle retries the payment. Once it clears, Lex Cloak unblocks the next time the app checks in with the license server, usually within a few minutes.
  4. You can also reactivate manually from the License section of Settings if you want to confirm the unblock right away.

If you cannot find the receipt email, search your inbox for messages from Paddle or for the subject line of your most recent renewal. The same email address that was charged is the one that received the receipt.

Manage, cancel, change plan

All three live behind the same Paddle management link from your receipt email:

  • Cancel. Cancel any time. Your license keeps working through the end of the current billing period.
  • Switch monthly and annual. Move from monthly to annual or back. Paddle handles the proration.
  • Update card or billing address. Replace the card on file or fix a declined address.

Devices on your license

Your license shows the devices it is active on against a friendly limit of five. The limit is a gentle nudge and never locks you out, and each device is shown by a one-way hash, so no document data and nothing that identifies your machine is sent off your computer.

Move to a new computer

To move your license to another computer, open Settings, go to the License section, and choose Deactivate, then activate again on the new machine with your email. Your subscription is keyed to your email, so it works wherever you activate it.

In the app, press ? or click the question mark beside a feature to see this guide offline.
